🌹 LCPOA War of the Roses 🌹

The LCPOA BOD has for the third Open Session Meeting in a row tabled the topic of rose replacement and an annual rose maintenance contract totaling $21,000 The Beautification spokesperson is Mr. Fletcher Satterwhite who is a nice man and a longtime member of our community. In his report to the BOD in the January Open Session Meeting he gave a lengthy and detailed report of the state of the 130 plus rose bushes within our community. His detailed report brought to light the sad state of these roses and that just a few short years ago were planted at a cost of several thousand dollars to the members. His findings detailed the provider as he called it, but would not provide the name of the vendor. It turned out to be Everthrive Landscape Inc. who has been a vendor for several years and has been paid over $360,000 in the last 3 years for services rendered. Everthrive was being paid for the last 7 months to care for and water the roses. In Mr. Satterwhite’s report he mentioned how these roses were not watered for 7 months and 13% of the roses died. When the roses need to be pruned for the winter they butchered them and cut them down to the ground. “Wrong, Not the Proper Technique “. This company is being paid $120,000 a year, 12% of the LCPOA budget. FOR WHAT!, I ask. We have no parks, club houses, etc. The BOD has seriously lapsed on their oversight of The Beautification Committee. The BOD claims they do weeding, trimming, and other landscaping services. I would like to see and our members deserve to see the contracts, detailed invoices and payments made to Everthrive. The perplexing part to this story is that the BOD has not asked or demanded Everthrive to reimburse or replace the dead roses. Yet Mr. Satterwhite had a proposal prepared to have the BOD vote on for an annual contract of $16,000 PLUS an additional estimate for $5,000 for rose replacement totaling $21,000. Is this new contract the same vendor? Hhmmmm. Our members should demand that our elected Board Members be held fiscally responsible and do their fiduciary duty and take action with Everthrive on this issue. The members should not foot the bill on this gross error or lapse of their contractual obligations.
